Commodify.us is a web application that allows people to visualize and license their Facebook data directly to marketers. After exporting their data from Facebook and uploading it to commodify.us, users can choose to license their anonymized data under private, fair use, or commercial licenses and effectively cut out the middle man.

Commodify.us adopts the rhetoric of web2.0 startup culture to address unethical gathering and selling of user data within social media websites systems. Thus it is not only a public cultural/political work which proposes more democratic possibilities, it provides a real tool to empower users to realize such alternatives.
